It is obtained by chlorination and oxidation of p-nitrotoluene. Put p-nitrotoluene into a dry reactor, after heating and melting, add iron wire and iodine flakes, at 58-62 ℃, pass an equimolar amount of chlorine gas, wash with hot water, neutralize with sodium carbonate, and pour into ice water , stirred to separate out crystals, filtered to remove water, and dried in the shade to obtain 2-chloro-4-nitrotoluene. Then add 25 times of 1-2% sodium hydroxide solution into 2-chloro-4-nitrotoluene, heat to boiling Chemicalbook, under vigorous stirring, slowly add potassium permanganate, keep the temperature at 100±1℃ , After adding, continue to stir, reflux for 30min, let cool, and remove manganese dioxide. The filtrate was adjusted to pH 1-2 with hydrochloric acid, the precipitate was washed with ice water, filtered and dried at 80°C to obtain the product. The chlorination operation can also be carried out in the presence of ferric chloride, and still pass chlorine at 58-62°C. The total yield of chlorination and oxidation is about 70%.
