Nicotinamide CAS 98-92-0 is a white needle-like crystal or crystalline powder, odorless or slightly odorous, with a slightly bitter taste. The relative density is 1.4, and the melting point is 129-131 °C. 1g of this product is soluble in 1mL water, 1.5mL ethanol or 10mL glycerol, but insoluble in ether. The pH of a 10% aqueous solution is 6.5 - Chemicalbook 7.5. Has weak hygroscopicity. It is relatively stable, resistant to acid, alkali and high temperature. It is stable to light and heat in dry air, and nicotinic acid is generated when heated in alkaline or acidic solution. Rat oral LD502.5-3.5g/kg, ADI value does not make special provisions (ECC, 1990).
